If you head east, you’ll end up in the North End where you can reward your pup with a treat from the locally owned Polka Dog bakery. You can take a self-guided tour of the Freedom Trail or join a walking tour to learn even more. Though burying grounds are off limits for pets (despite the enticing waft of well-seasoned bones), parks and green spaces are plentiful along the trail. Boston Harbor City Cruises has tons of options to explore the famous Boston Harbor, plus they welcome dogs, they offer harbor cruises, ferries, whale watching. Don’t forget a doggy lifejacket!
CYCLING
If your dog is on the very active side and is used to running with you, mix things up and rent a Blue Bike and cycle the Charles River Bike Path with your furry companion running alongside you.
If you’ve got an adventurous and water loving K9, Charles River Canoe & Kayak allows you to take your dog in their boats (no extra fee). Some locations even have life jackets you can borrow for your dog! Hours vary by location, but the season runs from May through mid-October
This farmers market opens up in May with their other markets to hopefully follow suit soon. Several vendors offer pet-related products, so your furry friend can be in on the fun too. This beautiful park is a Boston favorite with its wooded walkways and trails. Dogs must be leashed at all times. Owners are responsible for removal and disposal of their dogs’ wastes. The Arnold Arboretum’s 281-acre landscape is open from sunrise to sunset every day of the year. There is no admission charge, but donations are appreciated.

Rose Kennedy Greenway is a linear green space with five parks nestled in the mile-long ribbon. Dogs are welcome to join their humans as they explore the parks, enjoy the sculptures and public art, picnic, relax on the grass, enjoy a meal from a food truck or vendor, and spend the day or evening in the great outdoors. Dogs must be leashed at all times.

Dogs are welcome on Boston Water Taxi that runs seasonally in Boston, MA. During season, the Water Taxis operate on an on-call basis to 16 convenient stops. Fees per person apply. There is no additional fee for dogs to ride, but please let the Water Taxi know you are traveling with a dog when calling ahead.
The Boston Public Garden is not only America’s first botanical garden, but it is also one of the most scenic spots in the whole city. Featuring famous statues, diverse trees and flowers, and a four-acre pond with swan boats, there is never a lack of sights to see here.
Leashed dogs are welcome, and there are free dog waste bags at the corners of the garden.
The Boston Public Garden is located adjacent to the Boston Common, which is a larger park that has an off-leash area!
America’s oldest public beach has been dog-friendly since 2013, and it’s well worth a visit! It is train and bus accessible and fills up rather quickly in the summer.
This bottle-opener-shaped bay is the most scenic spot in Southie and allows dogs year round.
Located further south than Pleasure Bay, between Southie and Dorchester, this is a smaller but no less lovely beach. Dogs are welcome from Labor Day through Memorial Day.
The site features a collection of pre-Civil was structures, a museum, a park, and walking tours. Dogs are welcome, but they must be securely leashed and cleaned up after. They are also not allowed inside any site buildings
